PRhyme is what happens when the illest lyricist in the game meets the man Rolling Stones identified as "arguably hip-hop's greatest producer." The duo consists of Royce 5'9" (best known for his longtime association with Eminem as one half of Bad Meets Evil and one quarter of Slaughterhouse) and Gang Starr's DJ Premier. Royce and DJ Premier have classic hip-hop collaborations dating back to the late '90s have, spawning underground hits such as "Boom!" and "Hip-Hop", but officially solidified their collaborative relationship as PRhyme in December of 2014, when the duo independently released their full-length debut of the same name. Boasting a range of features from hip-hop stalwarts and newcomers alike, including Killer Mike, Jay Electronica, Common, ScHoolboy Q, Mac Miller, and Joey Badass, PRhyme achieved as much commercial success as it did critical acclaim. The album debuted at #59 on the Billboard 200 chart and was celebrated across the boards for its true hip-hop make-up and overall purpose. "Our thing is to teach people how to not skim through albums beacuse their attention span is short," says Royce. "I want people to appreciate the fact that we didn't compromise in lieu of the environment. In order to change the way that people digest music, we had to take a leap of faith." With an arsenal of unreleased music, and another full-length album on the way in 2017, it can be rest-assured that Royce 5'9" and DJ Premier are still in their PRhyme.
